Grange Legislation

Legislation from 1999 that passed through the Vermont Legislature:
Place Rumble Strips next to Vermonts major highways. This has already been started along I89.
Use local Vermont produce in school lunch programs when possible.
Allow local city & town governing bodies to decide when a river should be dredged for flood control & fill usage. This prompted a very interesting discussion at our Vermont Legislation Day in March. There are many reasons why this is controlled at state level - the most important reason is that there is a study going on that measures the effects of changes to river beds & flood plains. Changes to a river's flow can have damaging & lasting effects to the surrounding environment.
Our Legislative Director is Jane Mendicino, of Essex Jct Vt.
